Mosaic Dance Academy — Class Policies
To create a supportive, respectful, and professional environment for all dancers, we ask that you review and follow the policies below:
Dress Code
At Mosaic Dance Academy, our goal is for every dancer to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to move. There is no required dress color or uniform. Simply wear clothing that allows you to move freely and safely.
Youth Classes
Students should wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows instructors to see alignment and movement. Leotards, leggings, dance pants, athletic tops, and fitted t-shirts are all great options.
Adult Classes
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable moving in! Leggings, athletic wear, t-shirts, tanks, shorts, sweatpants, or dancewear are all welcome. Whether you’re coming straight from work or the gym, our goal is for you to feel relaxed and ready to enjoy class.
Shoe Recommendations:
- Ballet: Ballet slippers or socks
- Jazz: Jazz shoes are recommended but not required for beginners
- Contemporary: Bare feet or socks
- Hip-Hop: Clean indoor sneakers
General Notes
- Hair should be secured away from the face.
- Please avoid excessive jewelry or accessories during class.
- Proper footwear helps keep everyone safe and protects our dance floors.
- No street shoes are permitted on the dance floor.
Class Etiquette
- Arrive 5–10 minutes early to warm up and prepare.
- Show respect to instructors, fellow students, and the studio space at all times.
- No cell phones or gum during class. Please ask instructor if you would like to record during the class.
- Come ready to listen, learn, and try your best — a positive attitude is essential!
- Students should use the restroom before class begins to minimize disruptions.
Students under the age of 8 must have a parent or guardian remain on-site during class. As the sole instructor, I’m unable to leave the studio space during class time, so parents are responsible for taking their child to the restroom if needed. Thanks so much for your understanding and support!
Water is allowed in class (in a closed container), but no food or snacks in the studio space.
Payment & Attendance Policy
Full Payment Required: All students must pay in full at the time of registration for a 6-week session. Partial payments are not accepted.
Drop-In Option: Drop-ins are welcome at a rate of $14 per class, subject to space availability. Payment is due before class begins.
No Rollover for Missed Classes: Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes within their registered 6-week session. Missed classes may not be carried over or applied to the next session. For example, if you miss two classes during a week, you may not take four classes the following week unless approved in advance by the instructor.
Make-up classes or exceptions to the above policies may be granted in special circumstances at the sole discretion of the instructor.
Studio Conduct & Safety
- Students and parents must respect the studio space and help keep it clean.
- Mosaic Dance Academy reserves the right to remove a student from class if behavior is disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe.
- In the event of a weather cancellation or emergency, notice will be sent via email and posted on social media.
- Children that are not in class should be under parent supervision while anywhere in ballroom or lobby.
Refund Policy
- All payments are non-refundable once the session begins, regardless of attendance. This helps us reserve your spot and plan class sizes accordingly.
- If a class is canceled by Mosaic Dance Academy (e.g. instructor illness or emergency), a make-up class will be offered or a credit will be applied to your account.
- No refunds for missed classes, but in some cases, a make-up class may be offered at the instructor’s discretion (space permitting).
- If you need to withdraw before the session starts, please contact us at least 6 hours in advance for credit toward a future session.
